This draft has been developed through extensive expert consultations, validation workshops, and focal group discussions conducted across different regions of the country. The objective is to strengthen the Bharati Braille standard for seamless integration with modern assistive technologies such as Braille translation software, embossers, refreshable Braille displays, and screen readers, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and digital interoperability across Indian languages.

In line with principles of transparency and inclusive decision-making, it is proposed to upload the Draft Project Document and annexure on the NIEPVD website on 04 January 2026 (World Braille Day) for a period of 15 days, inviting comments and feedback from all stakeholders, including educators, Braille experts, persons with visual disabilities, publishers, researchers, and technology developers.

After due consideration of the feedback received, the final document is proposed to be officially released by the Chairperson, Executive Council, NIEPVD.

Stakeholders are encouraged to actively participate in this consultation process to contribute towards strengthening India’s unified Braille ecosystem.
