    Centre for Low Vision

    According to Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016, Visual Impairment is divided into two different categories. First, Blindness &
    second Low Vision.
    Recently, there is a lack of adequate facilities and awareness in our country for the identification and specialized services of low vision persons. After the implementation of RPWD Act 2016, efforts are being made in this direction slowly and gradually. National Institute of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Dehradun, which dedicated to the education, educational training and rehabilitation of visually impaired people, with their efforts, the Centre for Low Vision was conceptualized. Therefore, on 4th feb.2022 Centre for Low Vision was established in the institute in collaboration with Vivekanada Netralya Ramkrishna Mission, Dehradun. The Centre for Low Vision aims is to providing the best possible services to persons with low vision for educational learning, efficient performance  of daily tasks, and their effective integration into society. To achieve this goal, the centre is moving forward with many objectives.
    The major objectives of the centre are as follow:
    1. To provide functional vision assessment services
    2. To support visual skills training
    3. To facilitate clinical assessment of vision.
    4. To facilitate need – analysis and training on low vision devices.
    5. To organize awareness and capacity building programmes.
    6. To undertake and promote research & development activities on
    low vision.
