On 4 January 2025, NIEPVD, Dehradun celebrated ‘World Braille Day’ in honour of Louis Braille’s 217th birth anniversary, coinciding with the Foundation Day of the Model School.

- Virtual release of the “Draft Bharati Braille 2.1” by Shri Pradeep A., Director, NIEPVD
- Cultural performances by students and trainees highlighting Braille’s crucial role in accessible education, dignity, and empowerment
The programme was attended by 160 participants.
About Draft Bharati Braille 2.1
The ‘Draft Bharati Braille 2.1’ has been prepared and validated through nationwide consultations and Liblouis technical testing under a Project “Standardisation and Validation of Revised Bharati Braille for Technological Integration.”
The documents are available on the NIEPVD website for stakeholder feedback.
